Go Ape! zip line at the David Marshall Lodge

Things to do

Fishing

The Lake of Menteith lies to the East of the village, one of Scotlands premier trout waters. tel: +44 (0) 1877 385664. Lots of Fishing is also available via the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park tel: +44 (0) 1877 382258.

Walking

More walks than you could shake a stick at, with lots of them starting from The Forth Inn. The Forestry have recently produced a walking map for this area with colour co-ordinated routes. Far to many walks for you to do in a week, and that's without going on the 'Rob Roy Way' which passes through the village.

Mountaineering

We still have to work out how many Munros and Corbetts are within one hour from The Forth Inn, enough for us to have two mountain rescue groups in the area!

Photography

Do it yourself, or if you need inspiration talk to me (Phil).

Golf

Aberfoyle boasts it's own 18 hole Golf course, visitors are made very welcome. The scenery is spectacular, so if your golf's not up to scratch you can still take pleasure in this great setting. tel: +44 (0) 1877 382493, day tickets from £20.00 per person.

The Trossachs Bird of Prey Trail

Was conceived to link two existing attractions showcasing the conservation of wild birds of prey. These are at Argaty Red Kite Project at Doune (14 miles) and the Bird of Prey Viewing Centre at David Marshall Lodge, Aberfoyle. The trail links attractions in between these sites which share similar aims. The trail has an accompanying web-site birdofpreytrail.com, this has an interactive Trail map with details of all the Trail's attractions, information on the birds of prey around the route and features on the local conservation work to help protect the area's most threatened birds of prey. During the year the Bird of Prey Trail is a series of events around the route - talks, guided walks, "have a go" sessions on radio tracking and nest box building, conservation fun-days for the kids, and the chance to see conservation specialists carrying out bird ringing. In all cases, the aim is to give people first hand experience of conservation in action.

Go Ape!

Go Ape is an award-winning high wire forest adventure course of rope bridges, Tarzan Swings and zip slides up to 40 feet up in the trees. Appealing to a wide age range, customers are fitted with a climbing harness, given instructions, and then trek from tree to tree high above the forest floor.

The new course here in Aberfoyle boasts the two longest zip ines in the UK, one of which is around 426m long, which is approximately double the length of any of their other zip lines.
